The Time I Managed A Professional Skateboarding Team

I shot this photo of the Flip Skateboards team during a 2009 East Coast tour. This was my first time coordinating a major skateboard tour on my own after becoming the Flip team manager at the age of 25.

At the time this photo was taken, I was younger than of the pro team, which was intimidating at the time. A few months prior to this tour I had successfully set up and coordinated the world premiere of Flip’s last major video, “Extremely Sorry”. When I reflect back on these accomplishments it puts a big smile on my face. These memories are amongst some of my favorites, but when they were happening I definitely remember feeling like everything was about to fall apart at any second.

These milestones occurred early on in my career and taught me to believe in myself and to be confident in my abilities. I’ll never forget this time in my life because it gave me the push I needed to take on even bigger challenges down the road. Remember to always believe in yourself and take things one step at a time. As a good friend once told me, “You can’t eat an elephant in one bite”.
