TikTok Now Vs. BeReaL

TikTok recently introduced their latest feature, “TikTok Now,” which is TikTok’s response to the BeReal social media app that is gaining a lot of popularity at the moment. For those who have never used BeReal, it is an app that allows you to post once a day (when the app prompts you) using your front and back cameras. BeReal does not allow you to upload and/or edit your content in order to make users be as authentic and in-the-moment as possible. 

According to TikTok, their latest feature is “a daily photo and video experience to share your most authentic moments with the people who matter most.” International TikTok users will have to wait to experiment with this new features, which will be released over the coming weeks, but if you’re a US user you can access the feature now. In other regions, TikTok Now may be available as a new TikTok Now app. 

How TikTok Now works: TikTok users will get a daily prompt (like BeReal) to capture a 10-second video or a static photo of what they are doing at that moment.

A few things to know about TikTok Now:

•  TikTok Now is available in both the TikTok app and the TikTok Now app. Depending on your region, you may have access to TikTok Now within TikTok, the TikTok Now app, or available in both apps.

•  You can only view your friends' TikTok Nows from the current day after you post a TikTok Now.

•  You can access your past TikTok Nows but you won't be able to access your friends' TikTok Nows from any previous days.

•  Users aged 18 years and over will be given a 3-minute window to take a TikTok Now.
